EcoFemSkills project has worked with women/feminities from rural and semi-urban areas in Tenerife, Spain and Western Greece, through green skills development by training them on environmental sustainability concepts while enhancing their skills on a wide range of vital topics ranging from entrepreneurship to female rights.
Throughout the project, participants have learned and worked with the new technology from Precious Plastic that facilitates the use of plastic waste as a raw material.
This technology works with DIY machines such as the shredder, the injection machine, the extrusion machine or the oven that have enabled the creation of novel, quality products out of recycled plastic.
By creating an inclusive space for both local and migrant women/feminities from Tenerife and Western Greece, the project has achieved meaningful community integration and cultural exchange. Participants have shared traditional knowledge and developed innovative approaches to address plastic pollution in their specific regional contexts.
The project has tackled plastic waste through practical workshops where women learned to operate DIY recycling machines, transforming discarded plastic bottles and packaging into useful products like plant pots, household items, and decorative pieces. This hands-on approach has not only provided tangible skills but also deepened participants' understanding of resource limitations and the environmental impact of plastic consumption in their daily lives.
